Dog Food Recipe

Dog Food Recipe
Here’s a step by step guide … in the easiest way to understand - I used a food processor and food scale and we’ll go over changing your dogs food over gradually and how much they’ll need to eat per day at the end. This is great for beginners. You may get into this and have tweaks for the recipe … my goal in sharing is to help you start the process so your dogs have a healthier life and can live longer and stay cancer free … I wish I’d have known this years ago and I lost my best buddy Jake in September … but I learned this for him and I want to share it with you❤️🌈🐾
Jake’s Dog Food Recipe
Ingredients:
(Your going to use your food processor and chop these up and mix together and cook at 350° for 1 hour 15 minutes)
🐾 6 lbs ground meat (beef, chicken, turkey, salmon, venison – dogs need protein, which is essential for their health)
🐾 1.5 lbs organ meat (yes … they sell this at the regular grocery store in a round tub for $3 … yes this is gross but it’s IMPORTANT)
🐾 3 medium white sweet potatoes
🐾 3 large carrots
🐾 4 celery stalks
🐾 1 lb dried garbanzo beans (these are filled with protein, fiber, folate, potassium, vitamin A, B and magnesium)
FOOD PROCESS ALL THAT AND COVER WITH FOIL - cook 350° for 1 hour 15 minutes … after it’s cooked and cooled down - add the following ingredients chopped up/food processed and mix together:
🐾 2 cups cooked brown rice
🐾 1 (12 oz) bag of frozen peas
🐾 1 (15 oz) can of pumpkin puree (not pie filling)
🐾 ¼ cup chia seeds
🐾 1 cup frozen blueberries
🐾 1 bunch fresh spinach
🐾 ½ cup coconut oil
🐾 Multivitamin for dogs (I found on Amazon and I’ll send you a link - it was the best one, but you can Google and find your own)
🐾 Turmeric (It is wonderful and is proven to help fight cancer by being an anti inflammatory agent. I sprinkle on top before serving - 1/8-1/4 tsp. for every 10lb of dog)
Portion Sizes (per day):
🐾 Up to 15 lbs: ½ – 1.5 cups
🐾 Up to 25 lbs: 1.5 – 2 cups
🐾 Up to 40 lbs: 2 – 3 cups
🐾 Up to 60 lbs: 3 – 4 cups
🐾 Up to 80 lbs: 4 – 4.75 cups
🐾 Up to 100 lbs: 4.75 – 5.75 cups
🐾 Over 100 lbs: 5.75 cups + ½ cup for every additional 20 lbs
How to Transition Your Dog to Homemade Food:
🐾 Days 1-3: 25% new food mixed with 75% current food
🐾 Day 4: 50/50 mix
🐾 Days 5-9: 75% new food
🐾 Day 10: 100% homemade food
***Dogs can be allergic to things so make sure to run this by your vet - it’s pretty rare - but there’s my disclaimer. I’m not a vet - I’m just a pet Mom who’s dog got cancer and I got educated really fast - and I was paying a fortune to buy this and I know a lot of you are too! I wanted to help prevent cancer in my other dogs and wanted to change everyone over to fresh dog food - but it’s outrageously expensive and everyone is gatekeeping their “secret” recipes! I begged a guy on the phone who I found from a “pets with cancer” support group on Facebook and he literally told me he was going to patent his secret recipe … that’s why he wouldn’t give it to me - but when he scales his business I can buy it from him then. As a small business owner I get it … I started my company in my garage and have been scaling ever since! When Jake first got diagnosed I found a local lady who I bought it from and LOVED supporting … if you can afford to buy the premade stuff from small businesses - I encourage that! Shop small!!! But if you can’t … or REALLY want to know what is in your dogs food … this is for you. This recipe will get you started and you may get into and add cool ingredients like eggs, cottage cheese … to chicken feet to clean your dogs teeth…
I did a lot of research on cancer and there is a supplement called turkey tail mushroom that is not inexpensive - but it’s something I’m adding to my dogs food that you can also buy directly from the company or on Amazon … it’s not necessary but I can justify buying it now because I’m saving money making my own dog food. 1 in 4 dogs get cancer … More than 50% of dogs get cancer over the age of 10 … Google it if you don’t believe me. Turkey tail mushroom regulates the immune system and delay metastasis and increase survival times in dogs with hemangiosarcoma. I have two 10 year old dogs now … so anything I can do to prolong their lives is worth a shot!
I also learned about the raw food diet - my dog Jake just had his spleen removed that was cancerous … his red blood cell count was low after surgery and I didn’t want to risk salmonella poisoning which the vets warned me about … especially with me being a beginner at DIY dog food … but it was incredibly interesting and worth reading about the benefits. I also learned a lot about over vaccinating older dogs and something called TITER testing (Titer testing is a blood test that measures a pet's immune response to vaccines and can help determine if a dog needs to be revaccinated. Titer testing can help prevent over-vaccination, which can lead to adverse reactions and chronic illness.) that’s worth you researching.
I can’t have kids so my animals are my family. I work hard so they can have great lives … and buy expensive dog food … I had no idea that what I thought was “great dog food” was filled with garbage ingredients and overcooked so it is basically a carcinogen … so is this a pain in the butt? Yes … but after you do it a few times it’s so easy and you’ll be amazed at how much less poop 💩 there will be because there isn’t all the filler products … which is scary - how much more energy your babies will have … how shiny their coats will become … and how I personally feel like I’m doing my best by them in an affordable way and it feels great to share that with you and I hope your dogs all live longer ❤️🐾🌈
